Hebrews 11:1 — Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (NKJV).
Hope is our reason to believe.
Faith is our resolve to receive.
According to Hebrews 11:1, without hope, faith has nothing to give substance to. In other words, if you’ve lost your reason to believe, you have no reason to receive. Faith cannot give substance to something that’s not there. Therefore, the enemy is after your hope. He knows if you’re aiming at nothing, you’ll hit it every time.
Hope is your God-given dreams and desires. It’s the promises He has made to you in prayer and in His word. I believe the single greatest hindrance to hope is disappointment. Proverbs 13:12 explains, “Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick” (MSG). There are a lot of heartsick people out there because their hope is continually put on hold, and you might be one of them today.
What dream have you put on the back burner? Is there a promise that seems to be broken? Don’t give up on the plans and purposes God has instilled in your heart. As long as you have breath in your lungs, it’s not too late. God wants His will to be done in your life even more than you do. Trust Him through the process.
God has never let anyone down, and He won’t start with you.
