Two Quick Things

Proverbs 16:4 — The Lord has made everything for His own purposes, even the wicked for a day of disaster (NLT).

There are a couple of things I want to quickly mention concerning this verse. I believe both of them will bring you great comfort, especially if you are struggling with self-worth or direction for your life.

First, the Lord has made everything. This, of course, includes you. You are not here by accident, nor are you the product of a mistake your parents made. God chose to create you because He loves you and desires intimate fellowship with you. Others will do their best to get you to doubt yourself and question your value, but remember this: You are fearfully and wonderfully made, handcrafted by Almighty God, a masterpiece.

Second, the Lord has made everything for His own purposes. God did not create anyone to simply exist. He had a specific purpose in mind for you before you were ever born, and He calls it good, pleasing, and perfect (Romans 12:2). You are on planet earth by divine design, and you have a significant role in His master plan. In Jeremiah 29:11, God said, “For I know the plans I have for you,” and the great thing is He’s not withholding that information from you. All you have to do is ask and be led by His Spirit.
