2 Corinthians 10:5 — We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ (NIV).
You and I are commanded to take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Simply put: All of our thoughts—evil and good—are to be captured and submitted to Him.
Hebrews 5:14 says we have to train ourselves to develop the skill of discerning both good and evil. That means the difference between the two isn’t always found at surface level. Solomon wrote: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death” (Proverbs 14:12, NKJV). Not all good ideas are God ideas. In fact, some good ideas end in destruction.
In 1 Kings 3:9, King Solomon asked the Lord to give him an understanding heart that he may be able to distinguish between good and evil. Ask Him to give you the same ability today because chasing a seemingly good idea could potentially lead to your undoing.
1 Corinthians 12:10 — He gives someone else the ability to discern whether a message is from the Spirit of God or from another spirit (NLT).
