Be a Cheerleader

1 Corinthians 12:26 — If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it (NIV).

Being insensitive is a big roadblock to unity in the church. When one part of the body suffers, we should all share in his suffering. In other words, don’t just say, “Oh, poor so-and-so,” and keep moving right past him. Get alongside of him and be an encouragement.

Likewise, when one part of the body celebrates, we should all celebrate with her. Don’t be jealous or envious, but rather praise God with her for the victory. Look at it from this perspective: “If God blessed her like this, I know He will bless me too. I’m in covenant with Him, and He is no respecter of persons.”

It’s important for you to remember we are in this together. The enemy will never stop trying to divide God’s people because he knows he doesn’t stand a chance against a unified church. Do your part today. Be a cheerleader for both those who are suffering and those who are being blessed.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 — Therefore encourage one another and build each other up (NIV).
