Romans 12:11-13 — Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality (MSG).
The third thing Paul tells us to do to keep us from burning out is to help needy Christians. Be on the lookout for others who need encouragement, wisdom, direction, or help in any area.
Instead of praying, “God, send so-and-so some help,” be the help. Do the work. God will show you certain needs that you can take care of on His behalf. This will also give you a boost, especially if you are feeling sad or discouraged yourself. I can’t even begin to describe how fulfilling it is to give to and serve others—to make someone else’s day!
When you serve others, you stir them up. As a result, they will pay it forward to another fellow believer. What a chain reaction!
Hebrews 10:24 – And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities (AMPC).
