Psalm 55:22 — Cast your cares on the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken (NIV).
The word cast in this verse comes from the Hebrew word meaning to throw or fling. So if we throw or fling our cares off of us and onto the Lord, He promises to sustain us.
Scripture makes it clear we are not to carry burdens on our own. Galatians 6:2 commands us to carry each other’s burdens. In other words, we need to come alongside one another and help bring relief to those who are weighed down by their circumstances. Then, ultimately, we are to take our cares to the Lord and put them in His hands, whether they’re ours personally or someone else’s.
It’s no wonder why so many people crack under pressure, make ill-advised decisions, and give up altogether. They are trying to provide for themselves and maintain what they have in their own strength. But God is the one who sustains. He makes provision for those who cast their cares on Him.
I encourage you to throw your burdens onto the Lord today, and He will bring stability to every area of your life. Also, be reminded that you are the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21), and He will never let the righteous be shaken. Hallelujah!
Psalm 84:11 — For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right (NLT).
