Proverbs 23:22-25 — 22 Listen with respect to the father who raised you, and when your mother grows old, don’t neglect her. 23 Buy truth—don’t sell it for love or money; buy wisdom, buy education, buy insight. 24 Parents rejoice when their children turn out well; wise children become proud parents. 25 So make your father happy! Make your mother proud! (MSG)
I have a great love and appreciation for my father. I respect my dad more than any other man on the planet. I am thankful for the example he set for me as a godly father and husband. He was patient and hardworking.
My mother is a peacemaker. She will bend over backwards to make sure everyone in her life is happy. My mom is a giver and a good friend. I am grateful for the support she has given me in every area of my life. She was always the mom hollering in the stands at my sports games.
I have always appreciated my parents, but I have learned to value them more as I have grown older. Good parents are priceless, and I want nothing more than to make them proud. I want to encourage you to do the same. Even if your parents have not met your expectations, show them love and honor. If one or both of your parents has gone on to eternity, continue to honor their memory by living a godly lifestyle.
One of the ways you can make your parents proud is by being truthful. The Bible says to buy truth and not to sell it for anything. Be a person of integrity, and back up your words with action. Pursue wisdom and value education. Never stop learning. With wisdom and education comes insight and understanding. Making these things a priority will set you up for success.
Now that my dad is gone, I want to be a person who honors and brings my mom great joy. I’m sure you desire to do the same. Live your life in a way that will cause your parents to rejoice over you and be proud!
