3-D Vision

Psalm 1:2 — But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night (KJV).

God blesses the person who delights in His word. Delight has to do with desire. I have a great desire to get to know my wife better, so I am delighted to spend time with her. I find pleasure in every chance I get to be around her because being around her meets my desire to know her more intimately. Spending time with her is never a drag.

If you want God’s blessings, you have to desire to know Him better. That desire will cause you to be delighted every time there’s an opportunity for you to spend quality time with Him. You will find His presence to be very gratifying.

One of the ways we come to know Him better is by spending time in the Word. God blesses those who meditate on His word day and night. This means pondering and studying the word of God should become a habit in your life. A person who desires to be blessed by God cannot have a casual relationship with His word. God does not bless His acquaintances; He blesses His children.

Habits can be very frustrating. I have often found that starting good habits can be difficult, but it takes very little effort to stop them. On the other hand, starting bad habits is fairly simple, but stopping them can be quite a challenge. I believe this is true because maintaining good habits takes self-discipline, which many people lack. Bad habits just come naturally.

If you haven’t already, begin spending quality time in God’s word today. Remember these three d-words:  desire, delight, and discipline. If you desire to know Him more intimately, you will delight in His word, and you must discipline yourself to make studying His word a habit. Be encouraged. God’s blessings are released through His word. Hallelujah!

Psalm 119:97 — Oh, how I love Your law! I meditate on it all day long (NIV).
