The Greatest Miracle Ever?

Acts 2:44-45 — 44 And all the believers met together in one place and shared everything they had. 45 They sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need (NLT).

There are many miracles recorded throughout Scripture. Blind eyes were opened, the mute spoke, bodies of water were dried up, and even the dead were raised. Lame people walked, food fell from heaven, and the demonized were set free. God’s power was on display on a regular basis, and it still is today.

But perhaps the greatest miracle of all time is recorded in the above passage. All the believers shared everything they had. And not only that, they sold their property and possessions to give to those in need!

You may be thinking, “This isn’t a miracle. The supernatural has nothing to do with people sharing their stuff.” I beg to differ. It’s actually unnatural for any one person to want to share all of his possessions, let alone hundreds of people. If this wasn’t miraculous, I don’t know what is! The fact that the entire church shared everything they owned is truly an act of God.

God did a supernatural work on the inside of the first church because human beings are selfish by nature. Most people are very protective of their belongings, but these believers were more concerned about the welfare of others than their own earthly comfort. Their generosity was an investment into the kingdom of God, and as a result, they had everything they needed and a multitude of souls were saved. Glory to God!

The majority of churches don’t look like this anymore, yet this is the example Christ desires us to follow. Many people hoard God’s blessings and judge those who are less fortunate. I encourage you to resist your selfish nature. Become a giver. Allow God to bless others through you, as the Holy Spirit guides.

Hebrews 13:16 — And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased (NIV).
