More Than Enough

John 6:8-9 — 8 Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother spoke up, 9 “Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?” (NIV).

Philip was not the only disciple whose faith was stretched that day. Andrew was tested as well. However, the condition of Andrew’s faith was far different from Philip’s. Philip allowed logic to totally override God’s supernatural ability, but Andrew actually introduces us to the eventual solution. He brought a boy to Jesus who had five small barley loaves and two small fish.

Andrew’s faith represents that of many Christians today. They know what God can do, and they may even know how He wants to do it, but they still reason He is not enough. Andrew basically said, “Jesus, this boy has five loaves of bread and two fish, but not even You can use them to feed all these people.”

A lot of people have witnessed God’s miracle working power. They know the Scripture inside and out, yet they still place limits on Him. Listen to me very carefully: God is more than enough! Period. Don’t talk yourself out of a miracle. Know what God’s word says regarding your needs, and allow the Holy Spirit to work on your inadequacies.

Ephesians 3:20 says, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us” (MSG). There are many passages in the Bible that are taken out of context, but the message of this verse is very clear. God can do anything.

He will meet you at the point of your expectation and then blow it out of the water! Unbelief will cause you to lower your expectations. How can you have faith for God to do anything if you don’t believe He’s enough for everything?

Philippians 4:19 — And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus (NASB).
