Hope and a Future

Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV).

If God has plans to prosper you and not to harm you, then He certainly has plans to give you hope and a future. Unfortunately, there are countless individuals who are blinded by hopelessness, and they can’t see the bright future God has for them. You may find yourself in this same position today. If so, I pray hope is restored to you through this message.

As I was thinking about why so many people have lost hope, I received this revelation from the Lord: Everyone puts their hope in something. If you lose hope, it’s because you put it in the wrong thing. Hope is invaluable. You can’t put a price on how much it is worth, so it’s important to invest your hope wisely.

Compare it to investing in the stock market. When you put your money into a certain stock, your assets are at the mercy of the market. There will be times your stock rises or falls because the market can be very unpredictable. And as the market fluctuates, so does the mood of the investor. When your stock is hot, you’re on top of the world, but when it cools off, worry sets in.

The same is true when it comes to investing our hope. If we put our hope into a temporary, worldly stock, our measure of faith will vary depending on the present circumstances surrounding our lives. So many people, Christians included, lose sight of the plans God has for them because they have invested their hope poorly.

I encourage you today to invest your hope into an eternal stock. God’s market does not fluctuate because He does not change and neither does His word. In Psalm 119, David said five times, “I have put my hope in Your word.” I encourage you to do the same. Your future has never looked so bright!

Psalm 119:114 — You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in Your word (NIV).
