Plans to Prosper You

Jeremiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you” (NIV).

God has specifically designed a plan that is unique to you. He never has, and never will, author two identical stories. Even so, there are two common threads running through the plans He has for every person He’s ever created. I’m going to discuss the first one today and the second tomorrow.

First of all, He has plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Another word for prosper is thrive. God’s desire is for us to thrive in every area of life, including spiritually, physically, relationally, financially, emotionally, etc. His intention is for us to experience success in everything we purpose in Him to do.

Proverbs 28:25 says, “He who trusts in the Lord will prosper” (NIV). Those who trust in God wholeheartedly will be prosperous. The problem is many people put their trust in themselves, and they follow plans that are contrary to God’s will. Some allow themselves to be led astray by the plans others have for them. This is why it’s so important for us to discover God’s plans for our lives. If you don’t, you’re going to cause yourself more harm than good. Plus, He measures success on a different scale than we do.

Not following God’s plan for your life leaves you vulnerable. Many people live for themselves and then blame God when they are harmed by life’s circumstances. Listen to me carefully. God does not harm you, nor does He lead you into a place of insecurity. His plans are to prosper you!

Perhaps today you find yourself in a precarious position. You’re not prosperous in every area of your life, and you are ready to get back on track. Surrender yourself to the plans He has for you, and He will cause you to thrive no matter how unfavorable the conditions surrounding you may be.

Luke 10:19 — “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the powers of the enemy; nothing will harm you” (NIV).
