Immeasurably More

Ephesians 3:20 — Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us (NIV).

I don’t know about you, but I have big dreams for my family and me. I have a creative imagination, and I can come up with some pretty awesome ideas. Even so, God is able to do immeasurably more than anything I could ever dream up.

The problem is that too many Christians put God in a box, and they limit His ability to work within them. What’s happened to the dreamers? Where are the people who believe God is omnipotent and capable of blowing their wildest expectations out of the water? Many people’s dreams have been stifled, but why?

I believe there are multiples reasons as to why people place limits on God Almighty. Some lose their ability to dream after childhood; they simply “grow out of it.” Others stop dreaming because they’ve been disappointed, and the list goes on. It’s time for the church to dream again and believe God can do what He says He can do. He is an infinite God, and He has no deficiencies.

If you’re a dreamer, continue to dream. Never stop. Our two boys have great imaginations, and Heidi and I celebrate their creativity. Don’t allow naysayers to rob you of your God-given aspirations. There a lot of “wet blankets” out there who have made it their mission to put out the fire of passionate dreamers.

If you’ve lost your ability to dream, I dare you to dream again! Don’t put limitations on God; He is too awesome to put inside a box. And don’t be discouraged when disappointment comes. Keep things in perspective. God works in His timing and according to His will, not yours. Dare to dream today; there is supernatural power at work within you!

Ephesians 3:20 — God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! (MSG)
