Participate, Don’t Spectate

Romans 8:29For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren (NKJV).

God has prepared and planned some things for you to do, and He places certain dreams and desires inside each of us. The Holy Spirit will reveal them to you through prayer and by abiding in His presence.

Many people are overwhelmed by or afraid of what God has called them to do. (This is a recurring theme throughout the Bible as well.) In fact, if what you feel He has called you to do doesn’t scare you just a little, it probably isn’t a God-sized plan or dream. If you can accomplish it in your own strength, you don’t need Him.

On the other hand, His plans will force you to make bold statements of faith in order to fulfill your purpose. Then, after your confession, you must set goals and deadlines to reach your target. His perfect will for your life is not going to drop on your head or come to pass by chance.

I don’t know what God as called you to do, nor do I know your past successes or failures. What I do know is that it’s never too late to do the right thing. You are still breathing; you still have time, and His purpose for your life has not changed. Start now. Rather than be a spectator, become a participant in God’s plan.

Jeremiah 29:11“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future” (NIV).
