1 Peter 1:8 — You believe in Him and exult and thrill with inexpressible and glorious (triumphant, heavenly) joy (AMP).
When a believer truly rejoices, he does so with a unique kind of joy. It’s an unspeakable joy—one that cannot be clearly expressed or described. If you ask someone what it feels like to experience the joy of the Lord, he won’t be able to tell you accurately.
Matthew Henry’s Commentary on the Whole Bible explains it well: “This joy is inexpressible, it cannot be described by words; the best discovery is by an experimental taste of it; it is full of glory, full of heaven.” His joy exceeds the power of speech!
This indescribable joy can only begin to be understood through personal experience. I like to say it like this, “Being filled with the joy of the Lord is like experiencing a little bit of heaven on earth.” You and I will never be able to accurately describe His joy, but we can choose to live in it continuously.
I challenge you today. You might be in the fight of your life, but don’t lose heart. When you rejoice and give God praise, you’re inviting heaven to invade earth. Hallelujah!
Psalm 47:1 — Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy (NIV).
