Luke 19:40 — But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out” (NKJV).
Somebody, or something, is going to praise God whether you do or not. Somewhere there is a rock with your name on it, and it’s getting its voice tuned up. Don’t allow it to take your place in the choir. Jesus said the stones would cry out to Him if we don’t, so you better get your praise on!
I’m reminded of the old song that boasts, “Ain’t gonna let no rock out praise me. Ain’t gonna let it sing in my place.” Just the thought of an inanimate object rejoicing in my place gets my juices flowing. If a stone can recognize the majesty of God, we should be embarrassed not to.
Refuse to remain quiet. If you are in the middle of a personal war, let out a battle cry. Bishop T. D. Jakes once said, “If you don’t rejoice, the devil will think he’s winning.” Pastor Mark Hankins adds: “If we don’t open our mouths, we lose by default.” Don’t lose a battle that Christ has already won. You cannot gain victory through the praises of something sedimentary, metamorphic, or igneous. Lift up your voice!
Psalm 35:7 — May those who delight in My vindication shout for joy and gladness; may they always say, “The Lord be exalted, who delights in the well-being of His servant” (NIV).
