Psalm 31:21 — Praise the Lord, for He has shown me the wonders of His unfailing love (NLT).
If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably wondered how God could love someone like you. It truly is a wonder. Because of His great love and rich mercy, God made us alive in Christ Jesus when we were dead in sin. When we were at our absolute worst, He gave us His very best (Ephesians 2:4-5). Now that’s something to get fired up about!
Maybe you’re unable to find joy in anyone or anything else right now. I encourage you to echo David’s prayer in Psalm 51:12: “Restore to me the joy of Your salvation.” If you will give God praise when you’re down, He will restore and encourage you right where you’re at.
Go ahead and give Him glory! He delivered you from the power of sin. You are an heir of God and co-heir with Christ. Recall the jubilation you felt when you first surrendered your life to Him. What you’re currently going through pales in comparison to the joy you have as a child of the King. Sometimes you just need a reminder.
Romans 8:17 — Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory (NIV).
