James 1:2 — Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy (NLT).
Troubles are inevitable. If you’re trying to avoid them, you are fighting a losing battle. So rather than attempt to prevent trials, prepare for them.
Your attitude is the key to overcoming. James said to consider your difficulties as opportunities for great joy. Another version says to count them all joy (NKJV). In other words, you have a responsibility to face adversity with joy in mind.
I’ll admit this is easier said than done, so Scripture provides us with a promise to look forward to. Trials produce patience. I know building patience doesn’t sound very rewarding, but it is. Patience is the ability to endure hardship with a winning attitude. Trust me; you need more of it.
I challenge you today to face trials with joy and patience because He is perfecting your character in the process. Every time you pass the test, God credits joy to your account. Let that encourage you, and have a great day.
James 1:3 — For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow (NLT).
