Romans 15:13 — I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in Him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit (NLT).
We live in a world that is largely absent of hope. While this is a sad reality, hopelessness should not mark the lives of believers. Unfortunately, it does.
Romans 15:13 illustrates the direct connection between hope and joy. A joyless life is a hopeless one. Hope overflows in a person’s life when joy does, and fullness of joy only comes from trusting God. So if you’re lacking joy or hope, it’s very possible you are putting your trust in someone or something other than Him.
Circumstances will attempt to rob you of your joy, and if successful, hope will be lost as well. Simply put: The absence of joy will dissolve your dreams.
I encourage you to trust Him today. Plug into the Source of hope, so that your joy may be complete. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the Spirit’s power!
Psalm 51:12 — Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me (NIV).
