Hard Work Pays Off

Psalm 34:14Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it (NLT).

Peace is not elusive or trying to play hard to get. It may seem that way at times, but the peace of God is available to everyone who believes and is willing to work for it.

People in general want something for nothing. But I’ve found that anything worth having requires a great deal of effort. In other words, you can believe in His peace and not live in it.

Another version says to seek peace and pursue it (NASB). Don’t expect it to work the other way around. Peace is not going to hunt you down and force you to relent to it. Have faith in what God has made available to you and work hard to maintain it.

Monitoring the company you keep will help to preserve your peace. Don’t willingly trade your peace for someone else’s strife. We live in a world full of people who make it their mission to raise controversy and create chaos, but you don’t have to allow what others do and say to affect your state of being. Stand firm in peace.

1 Peter 3:11Let him turn away from evil and do good; let him seek peace and pursue it (NKJV).
