He’s Got This

John 6:6But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do (NKJV).

Jesus and the disciples were reclining on the side of a mountain when a group of thousands came to them. He asked Philip, “Where shall we buy bread that these may eat?” Philip and Andrew immediately began trying to formulate a plan to meet the need but came up empty.

Why were their efforts unsuccessful? Because they attempted to solve a God-sized problem with human reasoning. This same kind of situation may be threatening your peace today.

Your need does not catch Jesus by surprise. He knew what He was going to do back then, and He knows what He’s going to do for you now.

I encourage you to follow His example. Jesus gave thanks for what was insufficient, and the need was met. Thanksgiving shifts responsibility for supplying your needs from you to God. You will remain frustrated and ungrateful, if you try to take care of everything in your own strength. You will know you’re relying on Jesus when you can praise and thank Him before your need is met.

Philippians 4:19And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (NKJV).
