John 20:19 – On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” (NIV)
Jesus was dead, and the disciples had lost their beloved leader. They were deflated and scared. Fully convinced that they would be next, Jesus’s closest friends retreated into hiding.
The disciples forfeited their peace because they had lost sight of what Jesus had taught them. Traumatic circumstances have a way of doing that. Then, in the middle of their darkest hour, He came and stood among them.
Jesus knows your deepest need, and He is speaking peace to it right now. You have nothing to fear. In fact, He is standing in your midst, driving out fear before you and replacing it with confidence.
I encourage you to recall God’s word concerning your life, and allow His peace to bring you clarity of mind. You will never face a circumstance that will cause Him to go back on His word or change His mind about you.
2 Timothy 1:7 – For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind (NKJV).
