Matthew 5:9 – “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (NKJV).
You are a thermostat, not a thermometer. Thermometers adjust to the temperature they’re currently in. Thermostats set the temperature and maintain it.
My wife Heidi is a perfect example of this; she is certainly a peacemaker. Everywhere she goes peace manifests. Fellow teachers and students love her classroom because of the tranquil climate. There’s calmness about her wherever she goes, and she’s blessed because of it.
You are no doubt surrounded by the clamor of everyday life. Even so, you do not have to allow the hostile temperature of certain people and situations to register on your thermometer.
Be a thermostat. Set the atmosphere. Make peace instead of losing yours. The world is in need of the confident peace you carry. Share it.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 – Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else (NIV).
