Psalm 4:8 – In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, O Lord, will keep me safe (NLT).
You’ve likely heard the familiar idiom, “There is safety in numbers.” You and Jesus constitute a majority. Perhaps you’re facing some hazardous conditions today; He promises to keep you safe.
Studies show that stress is one of the leading causes of sleep deprivation. Countless people are literally worrying themselves to death over things such as work, school, relationships, and finances. They trudge through the day and then lay wide-eyed when their heads hit the pillow.
Let me remind you that Jesus slept through a furious storm that threatened to overturn a boat he was on. In fact, He was sleeping so soundly that the disciples had to wake Him up. He was not rattled by the storm itself.
Be at peace. Don’t lose sleep. Worrying adds nothing positive to your life. Jesus alone outnumbers your troubles, and He is in your boat. He’s not going under and neither are you!
Psalm 107:28-29 – 28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He brought them out of their distress. 29 He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed (NIV).
