After This

Job 1:22 – In spite of everything, Job did not sin or accuse God of doing wrong (CEV).

In case you missed it, Job lost his children, possessions, and health. The Contemporary English Version actually dubs his story as: Job Loses Everything. He was in so deep that even his own wife told him to curse God and die. It was a bad scene.

Perhaps you are experiencing a season of loss or lack. Many times it seems as if difficulty takes on a snowball effect. One thing goes wrong, and another, and then another, until you’re left buried beneath an avalanche of issues. If you understand all too well, I want to challenge and encourage you today. There are two tendencies you need to avoid in order to overcome.

1. Don’t do wrong just because things are going wrong.
2. Don’t blame God when things go wrong.

Sin has never been, and never will be, a key to victory. If you want to further complicate things, use what’s going wrong in your life as an excuse to live foolishly. Instead, do right no matter how wrong things seem to get. Also, God can’t make things right if you blame Him for what is wrong. If you think the problems you have are His fault, you’re going to have to let Him off the hook before He can help you. Now, check this out…

Job 42:16 – 16 After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation. 17 And so Job died, an old man and full of years (NKJV).

I love the words, “After this,” in the verse above. You and I need to keep an “After this” mentality during trials. Don’t become so focused on what’s wrong that you miss out on the right God has in store after this. After suffering, God restored to Job double what he had lost and blessed him with 140 more full years. I look forward to hearing your testimony.

” you will wake up one morning and this will all be behind you!”
