1 Corinthians 14:40 – Let all things be done decently and in order (NKJV).
Everything we do should be done decently–politely, courteously, and civilly. Most people are not rude when it comes to making first impressions. They typically put their best foot forward because they don’t want to appear to be a fool or a jerk.
However, it’s my experience that people in general are more inclined to be rude to those they know well. They’ll be short with their kids and use a poor tone when speaking to their spouses, but they practice great self-control with others.
I have often struggled with giving the best part of myself to everyone else and the leftovers to my family (perhaps you can relate). This is not the God-kind of love.
Love is not rude ever to anyone. Sometimes loving just means being decent. Purpose today to be respectful to everyone.
Ephesians 4:29 – Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen (NIV).
