Romans 12:9 – Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good (NIV).
Love is not hypocritical; it hates evil and clings to good. I like to say it like this: Love keeps a death grip on what is good.
There is a solo-climbing scene at the beginning of the second Mission Impossible movie that features the character Ethan Hunt. He isn’t anchored, and there are no harnesses. It’s just him and the mountain.
At one point, he is suspended from a cliff hundreds of feet in the air. The only thing preventing him from plummeting to the earth is the death grip he has on the rocks. He is clinging to what is good!
The God-kind of love holds on for life to the good. Many relationships die because people focus on the evil that’s been done to them instead of on the good that can come from it. Get and keep a death grip on the good in your life today.
1 Peter 3:8 – Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude (NLT).
