Galatians 6:4 – Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others (MSG).
To live continually in God’s peace you have to be at peace within yourself. In other words, your life must have a humble balance. You should not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but you should also have a healthy confidence.
Humility results from keeping yourself in proper perspective–coming to the realization that you are nothing outside of Christ and that your true worth is found in Him. Losing sight of this truth will cause you to compare yourself to others.
Many people lose their peace when they think the grass is greener is someone else’s pasture. They also get out of peace when their lives appear better than others, because then, they’re always striving to stay a step ahead. Either way of living creates more chaos than anything else. Learn to be content with who you are and what you have in Christ. Your peace depends on it.
Romans 12:3 – Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us (NLT).
